United We Stand

I had the extreme honor of providing the invocation prayer for the VETFEST (Hampton Roads Veteran & Patriot Appreciation Day) gathering in the Virginia Beach Convention Center, today, 16 October 2021.

As a member of the American Veterans Vote organization, this event was to encourage veterans to vote but more importantly to support the following candidates for Governor, LT. Governor and AG: Youngkin, Sears, and Miyares.

I thought I would include a transcript:

Psalm 133:1 says : "How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity."

Well, unlike what the Psalmist said, there are others who seek to divide…we've all seen it...they are willfully creating chaos. Separating us by gender, race, rich, poor, young, old, vax, anti-vax, educator, parent. But look around! You all look beautiful…this is a GOOD and PLEASANT occasion! And we are UNITED!

You see, we remember our founding, and in our Constitution, our purpose was clearly stated, as "we the people, in order to form a more perfect Union." And we Declared that the root of that purpose as self-evident in our inalienable rights, endowed by our Creator, as "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." And that is what we are about!

So will you pray with me?  2 Chron 7:14 says, "if my people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Almighty and all-powerful Creator Lord, we come to You, confessing our sins, and asking You to heal our land. We are facing a mighty foe, but You Lord have the power to vanquish any foe, to right any wrong. So we humbly seek You and ask for healing. We ask that You look upon these candidates with favor, that You provide them with wisdom to lead, and that You impart right thinking on the citizens of Virginia who will elect our state leadership.  It is for all these things we pray, Amen and Amen.
