Last weekend, while in California, in the Oakland area waiting for a bus, there was a sign: "Kill Trump" in graffiti where we had to wait. Sadness...I wondered what seeing that would mean to a visitor of our nation? What would they think of a population where the suggestion of killing the elected leader was posted for all to see? I also thought of the cowardice of that "author." That person probably NEVER served this country but is reacting to vile emotions, five months after the nation spoke. Even if that person did serve, is that proper discourse? We are increasingly failing to understand the difference between what we CAN do, and what we SHOULD do, and I believe that is to our peril. Moreover, it would seem that our nation's schools of "higher education" are encouraging such behavior and extremely narrow and linear thinking, instead of truly free and open thought. My evidence was a poster in the Berkeley campus area protesting a person coming to speak...protests and threat of violence so great, the person never came. Does the author of the poster even have a clear understanding of what fascism is?

Are we seeing the beginning of Civil War in America?

Someone passed the article below to me today. Quite thought provoking. If there is a group that feels that rules and laws are "optional," then what type of society do we have?

Feel free to comment within this blog... :)

Wisdom...

I am searching for wisdom. It has been very challenging and frankly "heart-wrenching" dealing with family members who are NOT like minded. Not being of the same mind is one thing, but not wanting to research and provide FACTS before spouting off with drivvle is something else. So, I'm going to focus more on this blog, and less on what is on FB. In fact, I've uninstalled it on my phone so I'm not tempted.

Here's an article that addresses the "complaints" some have over the Executive Order on Immigration. If those "anti-executive" protesters would take the time to read it, it would be good, but their hearts are hardened, so it won't matter...

Sharia Leader = Women's March Co-Chair? Isn't there a fundamental problem with this?

So I will see if I can upload a file and then discuss it later. The co-chair's ideology is certainly counter to basic American principles, but in the "heat of the moment," people don't "dig in" and find out what lies beneath the surface...I need to explore and will get back

Mainstream Media...

I don't put any particular "faith" in the article I've snipped below, any more that some of the other items we see around. HOWEVER, it does point to the problem with just getting information. As the article notes, all most of us heard from the MSM was how popular Pres Obama was prior to departing. At no time, other than this article are we presented with these observations. And again, it all depends on who is being polled.

Frankly, in light of the missteps prior to the 2016 election, polls may be a dubious a metric. So often it seems people being polled are not looking at "issues" but rather personalities, as if being polled for "Mr. or Mrs. Popular." And again, depending on where those individuals are getting their "information," they could be misguided on what is truth and what is not. We all need to guard against untruth.

For the rest of 2017

I am REALLY going to try to stay off FACEBOOK, especially for political comments. What will hopefully be "better" use of my time would be to provide thoughts on various subjects here. That way, I should not have to deal with emotional/illogical replies. I'd like this BLOG to be "thought and fact-based" in nature. As a Christian, biblical principles are at the center of my being, and thus will be reflected within these thoughts.

So today is 21 Jan 2017. A new president was sworn in yesterday, Donald J. Trump. Today there are protest marches all over the nation, some have resulted in violence and destruction. Wherever and whenever there is mob-rule, we see acts that run counter to the argument. In fact, all it does is reinforce the beliefs of their opposition. This is NOT to imply that peaceful resistance should be shunned...to the contrary. Sadly though quite frequently a mob mentality arises due to "agitators." Is that the lot of mankind? Can we not listen to each other? Can we in America not respect results obtained fairly? What about vulgarity being used as "common language?"

I don't know what would motivate a person to want to put themselves and their family through the venom that I've seen. I'm hoping that it is an intense love of country, mixed with the ability to make positive changes.

As far as I saw, many in the media did not include these positive FACTS concerning yesterday's Inauguration:

  • From a leadership perspective, Pres Trump used the word "I" 3 times, and "we" over 40. That is a basic leadership rule: "it's not all about you."
  • From a Christian perspective, there were many, many prayers lifted up during the ceremony. Jesus was called upon to help our nation. Psalm 133 was specifically cited by the incoming President. Where has that been over the past few years? I believe 2Chron 7:14 applies to all nations, past, present and future. If only people would turn to Our Lord.
I pray that through this media, I will be able to react in a way that does not impair my relationships with a host of family members and friends who think differently. With them, my intention is to not respond, particularly on FACEBOOK...but I don't know if I will be able to achieve that.
