OFFERING DEVOTION - 13 Jan 2019

OFFERING DEVOTION
13 JAN 2019

As we go to God before this offering, may we agree that an offering is a gift? And further, let us try to remember that WHAT WE DO WITH WHAT GOD PROVIDES MATTERS!
Throughout the Bible we read stories of what people did or did not do with what God provided, but even more than that, we read about God’s perfect and unceasing ability to give. We see that God knows exactly what He is asking of us, because He demonstrated perfect giving first, just as He demonstrates perfect love.
Throughout the Bible we read that God “gave…” For example, in the Old Testament He gave the Israelites manna to eat…
In the New Testament, Romans 8:3 says, “For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.”
The Bible says in Ephesians 5:25 that “Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her.”
So, as we turn to this time of offering, let us prayerfully consider that WHAT WE DO WITH WHAT GOD PROVIDES MATTERS, and God loves His church so much that He gave…what can I give…what can we give to His church?

Father God, You gave so much, and with these offerings, we give back to You what is Yours, for Your kingdom. We know that You will put these gifts to mighty work for Your kingdom, and we thank You, Father for allowing us to participate in what You are doing in this manner. It is in the most precious name of Jesus we pray these things…AMEN!

I thought that I would post my communion thoughts here. This provides a good "journal" space for me...

COMMUNION THOUGHT & PRAYER – 19 MAY 2019

As we think about communion, in that upper room, Peter, like me and perhaps like you, declared his fealty to Jesus. What did Jesus lovingly tell Peter? “Before the rooster crows you will deny me 3 times.”…and Peter did…we as humans fail Jesus, but the GOOD NEWS, the HOPEFUL and AMAZING NEWS is that Jesus NEVER fails us!
Out of all the moments in time, all the cultures, continents, and nations, God has placed us here, right now to take part in His glorious plan…and what is that plan? Jesus said in Matt 16:16: “I will build My church & the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
So, no matter if today you are in a valley, a plateau or a mountaintop, remember Jesus & His sacrifice for you and me. Remember His victory over death itself, let us approach the table, with a sense of LOVE, JOY, HOPE & VICTORY!
Would you pray with me?
In PHILIPPIANS 2:10 we read that God Himself exalted Jesus, and that “at the name of Jesus EVERY knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” As we remember Jesus going to the cross we should remember His love, joy, and victory over death itself and we should be filled with hope.
Father God, thank You for loving us enough to send Your precious Son, Jesus.
AMEN
