For the rest of 2017

I am REALLY going to try to stay off FACEBOOK, especially for political comments. What will hopefully be "better" use of my time would be to provide thoughts on various subjects here. That way, I should not have to deal with emotional/illogical replies. I'd like this BLOG to be "thought and fact-based" in nature. As a Christian, biblical principles are at the center of my being, and thus will be reflected within these thoughts.

So today is 21 Jan 2017. A new president was sworn in yesterday, Donald J. Trump. Today there are protest marches all over the nation, some have resulted in violence and destruction. Wherever and whenever there is mob-rule, we see acts that run counter to the argument. In fact, all it does is reinforce the beliefs of their opposition. This is NOT to imply that peaceful resistance should be shunned...to the contrary. Sadly though quite frequently a mob mentality arises due to "agitators." Is that the lot of mankind? Can we not listen to each other? Can we in America not respect results obtained fairly? What about vulgarity being used as "common language?"

I don't know what would motivate a person to want to put themselves and their family through the venom that I've seen. I'm hoping that it is an intense love of country, mixed with the ability to make positive changes.

As far as I saw, many in the media did not include these positive FACTS concerning yesterday's Inauguration:

  • From a leadership perspective, Pres Trump used the word "I" 3 times, and "we" over 40. That is a basic leadership rule: "it's not all about you."
  • From a Christian perspective, there were many, many prayers lifted up during the ceremony. Jesus was called upon to help our nation. Psalm 133 was specifically cited by the incoming President. Where has that been over the past few years? I believe 2Chron 7:14 applies to all nations, past, present and future. If only people would turn to Our Lord.
I pray that through this media, I will be able to react in a way that does not impair my relationships with a host of family members and friends who think differently. With them, my intention is to not respond, particularly on FACEBOOK...but I don't know if I will be able to achieve that.
